Fall Retreat FAQ

When and where is the retreat?

The retreat is the first weekend after classes start, and lasts from about 3:15 p.m. on Friday when we leave campus until about 1 p.m. on Saturday when we return. The CM retreat takes place at Camp Paron, about an hour from campus. Here is their website. We'll distribute maps and get directions to those who register.

How can I get from Ouachita to Camp Paron?

We will meet at the Lower SPEC parking lot (on the way down to the football stadium, just before the Ouachita main entrance) at 3:15 p.m. on Friday to carpool. If you have a car and are willing to drive a few folks, bring it! If you need a ride, we will be able to find one for you at this time.

Is there a deadline to register?

Please register by Aug. 15. Spots may be available after that date, but are not guaranteed.

What happens at the retreat?

We will have times of large group worship and three breakout sessions- you’ll get to choose which sessions you attend! There is also time set aside for personal devotions and a game time for everyone to hang out on Friday night. The retreat is the best way to learn about different ways to connect with CM and to meet our ministry leaders.

What is housing like? Can I choose my roommate?

The normal registration fee covers a bunk bed in a cabin with air conditioning and bathrooms! You’ll need to bring your own linens or a sleeping bag. On the registration form, you may request a friend to be in the same cabin as you. We will do our best to honor requests!

What if I need to come late?

If for some reason you need to arrive late on Friday, please communicate that to us so we know when to expect you! Dinner on Friday night will be at 5:45 p.m. so if you are planning to eat with us, please arrive by then.

What is the food going to be like?

We will be eating dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday provided by Camp Paron. It will be tasty. If you have a food allergy or dietary restriction, please make sure to let us know- we will be providing alternative meals to those who need them!

What should I bring and wear?

Dress casually and comfortably- August in Arkansas usually means shorts and a T-shirt! A non-exhaustive packing list is…

  • Bedding (twin size sheets and blanket or a sleeping bag), pillow
  • Toiletries
  • Towel
  • Bible, pen, journal
  • Jacket
  • Your favorite board or card games for Friday evening game night!

Can I still get a T-shirt?

Yes! T-shirts are available for $5. The first 50 to sign up will get one for free!
