Biography
Jennifer Duer Barnard is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor based in
Lonsdale, AR. With a master’s degree in Community Mental Health Counseling and School
Counseling from John Brown University, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise
to her practice.
Jennifer's commitment to excellence is evident in her academic achievements, including
being recognized for a 4.0 GPA on the President's List and earning honors as a Phi
Theta Kappa member. Her dedication to professional growth is reflected in her licenses,
including being a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed School Counselor/Educator,
and LPC Supervisor.
As the Co-Owner of All Things Renewed Counseling & Supervision, PLLC in Benton, AR,
Jennifer is passionate about providing high-quality mental health services. Her diverse
professional background includes roles as a Contract District Therapist, Mental Health
Professional for Families Inc., and various leadership positions in human resources
and property management. Jennifer is not only a seasoned professional but also an
engaging speaker. In 2023, she addressed the National Transition of Care Coalition
on the "Effects of Bullying on Adolescent Anxiety and Depression."
Actively involved in professional associations, Jennifer is a member of the American
Association of Christian Counselors and the Arkansas Christian Counselor and Therapists.
Her internship experiences at Connection Company, Union Rescue Mission, and The CARE
Clinic have further enriched her skills and knowledge. With a commitment to making
a positive impact, Jennifer Duer Barnard continues to be a dedicated and compassionate
mental health professional in her community.
Q&A
Why did you come to Ouachita?
I came to Ouachita through introductions made at the Arkansas Christian Counselor
and Therapists Conference in 2023. It was a complete walk in faith and obedience that
led me to the opportunity to become a full-time faculty member. I am excited about
what God has led me to do at this University and will strive to honor Ouachita’s mission
and to be a good and faithful servant to my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, students,
fellow faculty and all members of this University and community.
Why did you decide to become a professor?
Becoming a professor is a new and exciting endeavor for me, it was a divine intervention
that has led me on this path, I am excited and grateful for the new opportunity to
be part of educating our future graduates.
Why is your subject an important one in our world?
Psychology presents opportunities to better understand a wide variety of behavior,
human development, health, and cognition. While allowing us to better understand ourselves
and others’ Behaviors and motivations. In a world that is hurting with misunderstood
emotions and reactions/responses to external and internal stimuli, the study of Psychology
allows us to better understand ourselves and our neighbors.
What do you want future students to know about your degree program?
There are exciting recent changes happening across the Psychology department, we have
introduced new professors and exciting return for course that have not been offered
in a few years. It is shaping up to be an amazing opportunity for God to guide us
and create opportunity for our students and faculty to learn and grow together!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Family time is my favorite time! We enjoy travel, all things outdoors and involving
water! The Beach is my happy place. We love to serve our God, family, friends, and
community. Football runs deep in our blood…I look forward to new and exciting experiences
with our university sports program participation!
What has been a meaningful Bible verse or passage for you?
Proverbs 3:5-6.
“Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in
all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
This really encompasses my life’s journey, I have in the past leaned on my own understanding
and found that my way, my ideas, my plans are not always the plans for my life. Worry
and strife can be found when we believe that we are in control or responsible for
the outcome of our life journey. Our path is already written we must be able to submit,
pray and respond with obedience to allow God to work in our lives. “…not my will,
but thine be done” Luke 22:42.
